Earlier this year I had the privilege of photographing the great Christian Louboutin for not one but two jobs shot on the same day at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles. This dual shoot was for Footwear News Magazine and Louboutin, Inc. and centered around introducing his latest shoe design called Malangeli, which was a collaboration with actress Angelina Jolie and based off her character in the Disney film Maleficent.
Mr. Louboutin was a delight to work with and certainly made my job easier by bringing his big personality to set (he even showed me a few of his killer dance moves). Since the shoot friends have asked me, “Did you get any shoes?”. I could only reply with an honest “no” and a quote from a recent article that said, “Christian doesn’t believe in giving away shoes”. I’m not sure if that’s true, but I didn’t dare ask him.

Repo Man locations 30 years later
One of my all-time favorite movies growing up was the cult classic film Repo Man from director Alex Cox (who also directed another favorite Sid & Nancy). Recently I bought the movie via iTunes and while watching I noticed that many of the locations looked very familiar to me. In particular the areas pictured below, which is my old neighborhood located in downtown Los Angeles’s Arts District.
by @deathworldwide “We are saddened to hear about the passing of Tommy Ramone the legendary Drummer for The Ramones. We are thankful and grateful to Mickey and Tommy for acknowledging Death and for inviting us to the first Death performance in 2009 for the Joey Ramone Birthday bash in NY.
Although Rock historians acknowledge Death as pre-dating the sound of Punk Music in 1975, Death acknowledges the Ramones as the pioneers who blazed the trail of putting Punk music into the spotlight of Rock-N-Roll. Without the Ramones the Death story would be different, without the Ramones the legacy of Punk and Hardcore music would be different, without the Ramones the legacy of Rock-N-Roll would be different… and probably not as good and fun.
Thank You Brothers Ramone. When I heard the news in Chicago this morning, I looked out of the window and saw a lightning bolt come down from the sky, and I heard a voice echo in my mind accompanied by Tommy’s signature beat which said: “HI HO-LET’S GO, HI HO-LET’S GO
Rest In Peace Tommy In Musical Paradise
